Our trip to the hospital

The hospital tour was a first for me as well! The program is run by volunteers who welcome kindergarten classes around the city to tour the hospital so little ones can see that it’s not such a scary place!
We toured the x ray room where they could see where they would lay down and that the x ray doesn’t hurt, it is just a big camera!

Our next stop was the rehabilitation gym where students tried walking up the stairs with one leg straight as a board! We learned that many people who have an accident and break a bone need rehabilitation afterwards so they can re learn how to use their legs, or any part of their body again.

We then went to the lab where they could see the blue rubber band that gets tightly wrapped around their arm, and the vile where the blood is kept. Students learned what makes up our blood and that sometimes doctors need to test our blood to make sure we’re healthy!

We went into the large kitchen, but before we went in we all had to put on some fashionable blue hats! Some of the students even wanted to keep them for a souvenir!

We stopped in to the nursing home wing and we had practiced a couple songs to sing to them! All of the kids smiles and voices sure put a big smile on many of their faces!

We ended back in the classroom where they could see an infant incubator that they were in when they were born, and we tried on casts which was fun!
