Our trip to the hospital

Image
The hospital tour was a first for me as well! The program is run by volunteers who welcome kindergarten classes around the city to tour the hospital so little ones can see that it’s not such a scary place! We toured the x ray room where they could see where they would lay down and that the x ray doesn’t hurt, it is just a big camera! Our next stop was the rehabilitation gym where students tried walking up the stairs with one leg straight as a board! We learned that many people who have an accident and break a bone need rehabilitation afterwards so they can re learn how to use their legs, or any part of their body again. We then went to the lab where they could see the blue rubber band that gets tightly wrapped around their arm, and the vile where the blood is kept. Students learned what makes up our blood and that sometimes doctors need to test our blood to make sure we’re healthy! Valentines Day!!

Image
February has been filled with much conversation about love, sharing, being a good friend and kindness. We will continue these conversations for the rest of February, but wanted to share what we have been up to thus far. We had fun completing this fine motor craft that involved students tearing small pieces of paper to fill in a valentines day heart. They then had to finish five sentences I love seeing... I love smelling... I love eating... I love playing... I love reading... Their answers were priceless!!! Here are a few of them. (These will be glued inside scrapbooks) I already shared these pictures on class dojo, but wanted to mention again how much fun the students had outside playing with friends. With Spring around the corner (hopefully) we will be doing much more of this. Going outside for recess breaks will also get them ready for grade 1! The teddy bear and sock toss was fun! Thank you to all those that brought in...

Hibernation day is always a favourite in kindergarten!! Our grade 4 buddies helped us make bear headbands and binoculars! Our tables were turned into dens and they searched for food! We went on an animal scavenger hunt where we had to locate 12 different animals around the classroom Other activities included a song, we are going on a bear hunt, bear yoga and stories!
