Lent

The season of Lent has begun and we had a faith filled week at school.
On shrove Tuesday students enjoyed face to face ministries!! They enjoyed the music, the dancing and the message was important. Let’s look for Jesus on purpose.
It was very dark in the gym, so these are the best pictures I could get.

On Wednesday we celebrated Ash Wednesday as a school community. We listened to Father JoJo’s homily about Lent is a time to do better, make a change, Pray more, or give something up. Ash Wednesday derives its name from the placing of repentance ashes on the foreheads of participants to either the words "Repent, and believe in the Gospel" or the dictum "Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return."

Shrove Tuesday also meant some yummy pancakes. We watched a video and discussed why we eat pancakes and this is the reason:
It was traditional in many societies to eat pancakes or other foods made with the butter, eggs and fat that would be given up during the Lenten season. ... The specific custom of British Christians eating pancakes on Shrove Tuesday dates to the 16th century.
